Banqer- Lending and Debt

Lending and Debt

Over the past few weeks we have been learning about lending and debt. Today we went over what we did last week and we also learnt some meanings of things.

Here are some meanings:

  • Interest rate – The rate at which you are charged every week. This is a percentage of the overdraft balance every week.
  • Max overpay limit – The maximum amount of money you are allowed to borrow.
  • Weekly service fee – A fee that you regularly pay to the bank for having an overdraft.
  • Unarranged overdraft – When you spend more money than you have in your account.
  • Arranged Overdraft – When you apply to the bank to borrow more money than is in your bank account.
  • Bankruptcy – When you have no money left and cannot pay your debts. In Banqer, this can be initiated by the creditor ( the bank)
  • Set-up fee – A one-off charge that is sometimes called an establishment fee.

Esmart Digital licence

I am working towards getting my Esmart digital licence. So far I have done 2/4 modules. All of the modules have a different theme.

In module one I  have learnt about how to balance my time on devices and how to balance my time doing other things like schoolwork, Family time and many other things. I have also learnt that if you are someone that spends all of your time on your device then it’s a really good idea to set a timer for yourself because if you spend all day and all night on your device then you could get sore eyes, bad posture and many other things. In the second module I haven’t done a lot but it’s all about kindness.

Brain Busters

Today people from brain busters came to our school. They were here to talk to the year 8 about brain busters. If they wanted to do it there was a link to a site for them to sign up on. There are all different things that they can enter into. If you are good at maths you can enter into that or if you are good at Te reo Maori then you can enter into that.

Wheels Week!

  1. What road rules must you use when riding your bike? (7)

Riding responsibly includes:

 • obeying give way rules, road signs and markings

• using hand signals

• passing other people safely and without startling them • keeping left when it is safe • riding so that no more than two riders stay side-by-side • not riding distracted or impaired • not riding on footpaths (exceptions apply).

  1. What does riding defensively mean?

It is your responsibility to be aware of hazards. Scan for hazards and be ready to deal with them. Hazards can come from the road and environment around you, and from the people you share the road with.

  1. What signals should a cyclist know and when should they use them?

There are three official hand signals.

  • Extend your left arm and hand to signal that you are going to turn or move left.

  • Extend your right arm and hand to signal that you are going to turn or move right.

  • Extend your right arm and raise your forearm and hand to signal that you are going to stop.

You must use the correct hand signal for at least 3 seconds before:

  • moving into traffic

  • stopping

  • turning left or right

  • moving left or right (such as starting off, changing lanes or taking the lane)

  • entering or leaving a roundabout if you are turning left or right, as long as you can stay in control while signalling.

TimesTables

Today we did a timetables test.

I got 79% in 10 minutes and 0 seconds.

My goal is to work on my accuracy.

I want to work to get 85% next time.

One of my basic facts I want to work on is my 9 times tables.

200 word story

It was a normal Saturday morning and Violet was meeting up with her friends Emma and Jessica. They were going for their weekly swim at the beach and today was a perfect day for it, the sun was as bright as it could be, the water was as blue as if they were in the tropical islands. But they were just at their local beach in New Brighton. Before they left to go to the beach they all met up at Violet’s house for lunch. For lunch they ended up having peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for lunch. Once they ate them they got changed into their togs. They headed off to the beach. 5 minuets later… “How much longer?” Said Jessica as she complained. “We only left 5 minutes ago” said Emma “But it feels like it has been forever” Said Jessica “Stop complaining we only have 5 until we get there”Said Violet “5 MINUTES THAT’S IN FOREVER” Screamed Jessica “No it not its only in 5 minutes that’s not in forever”Emma said  5 minutes later…”See Jessica we just have to cross the road and then were at the beach”Said Violet Emma stopped and said  “If it dos’t rain” “What do you mean it’s so sunny”Said Violet “Yeah that way.Look behind us”Said Emma “…Oh no it looks like a storm we better hurry” “It just got a bit windy”Said Jessica “MY Towl!!” Screamed Violet. By the time they walked across the road,Ran up and down the sanduens about 3-4 times and finally got Violet’s towl the storm had come. “What are we going to do now? Said Emma “Well I guse we can’t go swimming”Said Jessica After 5-10 minutes of descending they ended up going back to Violet’s house to watch some movies.
